I don’t know about you all, but I for one feel every season brings picture-perfect moments. In the spring it could be soothing rain outside the window, bringing those April showers or the flowers that pop up afterward. For me summer has been marked by driving into the neighborhood I grew up in after college and seeing the vibrant forest that surrounds it. Fall for a lot of individuals is their favorite. The color, temperature, and changes in daylight all come together to bring amazing moments. Then you have winter, which is also a favorite of mine. It is so hard to describe waking up and looking out thru window to find fresh, untouched snow all over the yard. It is serene yet magnificent.
Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” One of the things I love about the world we live in is the beauty woven into it. Even though we are distanced and stuck inside at times, look for even the smallest of things that proclaim God. When I look at the world around, I wonder how God made it so beautiful. The evidence of his designing just shouts His power and authority but also His compassion. Each one of us can find something different throughout the day that points us to God and appreciates not just the beauty around but of every blessing we have.
The biggest blessing being the forgiveness of our sins through Christ our Savior. We have been given life anew and we must seize that opportunity. While picturesque calendar photos of the seasons are nice and breathtaking scenery is great to look at, we can forget at times that we too are part of God’s handiwork. As we think of appreciating the other parts of creation do not forget to appreciate your fellow human.
We are all made in the image of the creator. No, we are not perfect but the appreciation of someone else could very well lead to their appreciation of God Almighty.
